Gil Llanas joined Northwestern Mutual in June 2003 as Manager of the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. On April 16, 2004, he was appointed to his current role as Director of Community Relations. In this position, Gil is responsible for administration of corporate giving programs, including Community Development grants, Industry Grants, Event Sponsorships, Disaster Relief efforts and the company’s Mutually Beneficial Collaboration program. He is also responsible for employee Board of Directors placements/training on nonprofit Boards.

Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual, Llanas was the Community Affairs Manager at Miller Brewing Company. He has also held teaching positions at the School of Business, Milwaukee Area Technical College and at Gateway Technical College (Racine) in the Adult Basic Education Program.

He received his B.A. in Spanish, and a Master of Science, Administrative Leadership & Supervision from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. He has also received a Certificate of Corporate Community Relations from the Center for Community Relations-Boston College.

Llanas is the current President of the Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee, on the Board of Visit Milwaukee and the President of the national contributions group - Association of Corporate Contributions Professionals. He is a former board member of the Donors Forum of Wisconsin, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southeastern Wisconsin and Friends of the Milwaukee Public Museum. He has also served as President/Treasurer, Guest Relations Association, and currently serves on three advisory boards for other nonprofit organizations.
