Cultural Connections Series
In order to offer a larger menu of cultural awareness opportunities, HPGM has piloted a series of programs designed to create a variety of educational and growth activities to better connect members to Latino culture.
- Conversational Spanish: This six-week course aims to provide forums for members and non-members to “brush up” on Spanish language fundamentals as well as offer forums for individuals to practice speaking Spanish and strengthening their language skills. The course is designed for individuals who have some foundation or knowledge of the Spanish language.
- Book Club: This book club meets every other month and focuses on books written by Latino authors and/or Latino culture. Our book club meets bi-monthly on Saturdays at 11:30 at Antigua Latin Restaurant in West Allis.
- Dance Class: In partnership with Christine Almeida, "La Maestra", HPGM offers a 5-week class of choreographed dancing. Participants have the option to perform at the HPGM annual fundraiser Noche de Sabor.
- Cooking Class: In partnership with local restaurateurs, HPGM offers several Latino cooking demonstrations by Latino chefs.
